Beef cow/calf meetings scheduled

Published January 24, 2012
Cow/calf producers are encouraged to optimize their opportunities and attend workshops focused on herd success in a changing beef industry. The northern Illinois meeting will be held Feb. 7 from 4:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Black Hawk College — East Campus in Galva, Ill. The central Illinois meeting will be held Feb. 8 from 4:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Ill.

At each meeting, speakers from the University of Illinois, the Illinois Beef Association (IBA), and regional veterinarians will highlight new production strategies, feedstuff and cow nutrition, herd health, and new U of I research. Travis Meteer, U of I Extension beef specialist, said these seminars will provide information to help producers develop strategies for a profitable operation.

Registration before Feb. 1 is $10; after Feb. 1 or at the door is $20.

The seminars are sponsored by the IBA and U of I Extension.
