Center for Food Integrity's Arnot to speak on campus Jan. 24
URBANA –Charlie Arnot, CEO of the Center for Food Integrity (CFI), will be a guest lecturer in ACES’ sustainable food systems course in the ACES Library’s Monsanto Room on Jan. 24 from 2 to 3:20 p.m.
“We invite interested faculty and students across campus to visit our class that day and hear what Charlie has to say about consumer confidence in our U.S. food system,” said Robert Hughes Jr., professor and head of the Department of Human and Community Development.
Since 2007, CFI has been at the forefront of groundbreaking research to measure and track consumer attitudes on key food issues.
CFI’s five years of consumer trust research has yielded significant insight into how to enhance consumer trust in today’s agriculture and food system. Their trust-building model shows that confidence, or shared values, is three to five times more important in building consumer trust than demonstrating competence, Hughes said.
“This research helps create a greater understanding of consumer attitudes and the challenges faced by industry stakeholders in building trust in today’s food system,” Hughes said.
Arnot is also president of CMA, a consulting company with offices in Missouri, Iowa, and Ohio. In that role, he works with companies and associations to develop and implement sustainable solutions in issues management, public relations, strategic facilitation, and marketing communications.
